Creating Beyond Crappy Childhood Programs

Do you guide your thoughts; or do they control you most of the time?

Many of us were taught that life just happens to us and that even our thoughts are out of our control.

But what if you DO have control of your thoughts, especially where you focus them…

Perhaps you noticed that any attempt you make to stretch past old ways of thinking and being can feel uncomfortable and even like there’s a battle going on within you.

There is actually a battle going on at times.

Between parts of you that think they are protecting you by staying the same and the parts that know you’re safe and it's time to choose differently!

Our choices are influenced by so many factors that there’s no possible way to know them all.

And good thing that’s not required to live a more conscious life.

But it is good to know that most of the triggers will show up from childhood programming and wounding.

When you find yourself suddenly terrified of being abandoned, afraid people are mad at you, or that it's not safe to move forward.

Realize that is a child aspect of you showing up.

In that moment you are no longer being the adult version of yourself.

The problem with that is you may be wondering why you can’t think straight, calm yourself down, or have the answers like you normally would.

Well, that’s because you are not the adult self at that moment.

Your child self doesn't have the skills and knowledge to get out of the trigger.

Recognizing when the child is asking for attention you can then take a moment to switch back to your adult self and practice self-soothing.

Simply hugging yourself and speaking to that younger version in a kind, calm, and loving manner is powerfully life-changing!

This isn’t a time to judge or beat up on yourself.

Stop treating your inner child as a bother and take the time to listen to what those scared parts of you have to say.

Sometimes, all they want is to be acknowledged.

And maybe a few encouraging words to show they are supported, loved and you will do your best from now on to be there for yourself.

Don’t overlook the simplicity of this.

Accept and love the parts of yourself that you’ve been judging and avoiding.

Step into a space of more kindness and patience.

Lots of love :-)
